Getting some pussy

Thinking of getting a cat, two years after our beloved WHOdog, Ninja passed away.
Am considering either a Maine Coon or Bengal and wondered if any WHOers had experience of these?
I have two daughters at home who are 6 and 13, plus there is pretty much always somebody at home (not me as I'm out grafting).

i have 3 (THREE) ragdolls, sock0. Can give you breeders details if you're interested. Awesome animals. All the upsides of dogs without any of the stench infecting the house, yapping, or the need to be walked.

Big no for me.
Had hybrid indoor/outdoor ones growing up for mice.
I think if you have children you don't need pets.
But my view maybe coloured by the number I saw die and I have a very good sense of smell.

Don't bother with any of these fancy (and expensive) breeds. They're often highly strung and more demanding.
Just get a moggy.

Ragdolls are great. Very chilled out and friendly.
Bengals are lively and love hunting. A mate that lived by me had one and it used to stalk me when I would walk to work. Friendly but nuts.

Love cats and got a very pretty long haired moggy who i would not be without, but boy she kills anything that moves, regularly has mice, birds, rats in the house and only 50% are dead! 8 inch long rat alive in your bedroom at 2am is not fun

Plenty of catnip and best of all valarium, calms them down from wanting snacks every half an hour.

Just to point out, I have had many animals in my life, including cats, just never a Maine Coon, Bengal or Ragdoll. Just seeking advice on these breeds in particular.

Used to have a siberian, she was a monster of a cat too. Very similar.

Bengal pussy can be highly temperamental, prone to sudden angry outbursts and violently verbose. Be warned.

My sister adopted a cat that was part Turkish Van and loves water, she didn't know this when she got him and would regularly find him in the bath or sink.
We have always got rescue animals from the Mayhew home and had some lovely pets.
The last one was a lovely Ginger Tom who was quite a character the most affectionate animal but also a prolific hunter and wanderer.
Like the earlier poster I spent hours chasing live rats around the house after he had brought them in through the cat flap and let them go after eying his food dish..
I also had a call from someone who had found his collar in a park approximately a mile away whilst the cat was sat snoozing on the sofa after disappearing for hours and returning knackered.

Had a Bengal Snow Leopard (Cosmo) as our last puss. Beautiful to look at, fully engages with their human, very vocal. Into everything all day and night long. Cosmo loved to be carried and hugged as well.

Not wrong. I can testify to that after being married to one for many years.
